Transfer a domain

A domain transfer moves management of a name you already own from another registrar (GoDaddy, Namecheap, etc.) to Nisc Cloud. After transfer, you renew and manage DNS through the customer dashboard.

Before you start

Gather these from your current registrar:

1. Domain unlocked turn off registrar lock / transfer lock in their control panel.
2. Authorization code (EPP code) request it from the old registrar (sometimes emailed).
3. Valid admin email the registry sends approval emails to the domain contact.
4. Domain older than 60 days ICANN rules block transfer of newly registered domains in most cases.
5. No recent transfer if you transferred in the last 60 days, wait before transferring again.

Keep the domain active at the old registrar until the transfer completes do not let it expire mid-transfer.

Start transfer from the dashboard

1. Sign in at npanel.nisccloud.com.
2. Click Domains in the sidebar.
3. Click Transfer.
4. Enter the full domain name (e.g. example.co.ke).
5. Enter the authorization (EPP) code from your old registrar.
6. Add to cart and proceed to checkout.
7. Pay the transfer fee (often includes one year extension).
8. Confirm contact email is correct for approval messages.

Start transfer from nisccloud.com

1. Visit the Domain transfer page on nisccloud.com.
2. Enter domain name and auth code in the transfer tool.
3. Sign in and complete checkout.
4. Track progress in Domains → My Domains after login.

Approve the transfer

1. Watch the admin email on the domainNisc Cloud's WHOIS contact.
2. Open emails from the registry or old registrar and approve the transfer if asked.
3. Some TLDs complete automatically after 5–7 days if not rejected.
4. In the dashboard, open My Domains status may show Pending transfer until finished.

Transfer usually completes in 5–7 days for gTLDs like .com; some ccTLDs may differ.

After transfer completes

1. Open Domains → My Domains and click the domain.
2. Verify Overview shows Nisc Cloud as registrar and new expiry date.
3. Set Nameservers or DNS to point to your hosting:
   • Nisc Cloud hosting use nameservers shown in hosting Overview
   • External hosting update A/CNAME records in DNS tab
4. Re-enable privacy / protect brand if you use those features.

Your website and email should keep working if DNS/nameservers stayed the same during transfer. If you changed nameservers at the old registrar right before transfer, update them again at Nisc Cloud.
